Profile Information

About Me:
My name is Céilidh (pronounced kay-lee), and it is my real name. I'm a New England girl, and I've lived by the sea almost all of my life (save a few years in beautiful Lake Tahoe, NV). I was born on Alban Eiler (first day of spring)... it was a Saturday and I interupted the doctor's golf game. Muahahahaha. Still don't like golf.

My passions are art and history and even art history! I love the Brittish Iron Age, and really everything up to the Viking period. There are other points in time that facsinates me as well, but it's really the Celts of the Iron Age that has my focus. Experimental Archaeology is something I'd really love to do/learn/teach.

As for the art, I'm self-taught and prefer to do portraits (not nearly as well as Shane, however) and illustrations in traditional mediums such as graphite, oil paint, etc.; usually with a fantasy, history, or mythology theme. I enjoy nearly everything creative, from woodworking to pottery to sewing, and most everything in between.

In addition, I like learning about my family genealogy, thanks to my mother (Queen Elisabeth). So far, there are links to Richard I, the Queen Mother, a pirate in Calico Jack Rackham's crew, and the Putnams of American history and of the Salem Witch Trial infamy. Most of my heritage is Scottish (clans Lamont & Henderson mainly) or Norse. The Lamonts came from one of the Dal Riada tribes; the origional Irish Scotti that founded Scotland.
Hobbies/Interests:
Ancient History (Bronze Age, Iron Age, Dark Ages) of the Celts, Picts, and Norse. Art. Native American History. Genealogy. Cosplay, Fitness & Nutrition, and Ancient & Modern Weaponry. Oh, and let's not forget long haired men in kilts!
My Profession:
A little of everything.
Relationship Status:
Not Looking!

My Personality In General...

I am often guided by my heart and intuition, but also feel it is necessary to look at cold hard facts and take notice of details. I despise illogical theories, aCtions, thoughts, and policiEs. Sometimes my thoughts or actions seem irrational to others, yet are not once the path of logIc has been reveaLed.

My major goal in lIfe, like anyone's really, is to finD value in life: a purpose. My American dream is not typical and neither are my goals really. I don't expect success to be easy, but I expect it to be possible and accomplisHed on my terms. I have vaLues and mOrals that I refuse to lay down for anyone. I am an idealist but also a realist. I know what I would like to accomplish in this world, but I know I haVe limits, or at lEast challengeS.

I'm an introvert that can't help but feel compaSsion for people even when I don't want to. My desire to Help others is both fulfilling and burdensome. The truth of the matter is people fascinte me; culture, religion, and psychology fascinate me. And art, well... Art is the physical maNifestation of all these things. I get along well with just about anyone, regardless of personal reservations. I can be laid-back or uptight depending on the situation at hand. I'm a swEetheart to people who deserve it, but am also vicious when provoked.

I'm a perfectionist, so I often abandon projects prematurely or at least put them aside until I feel I can do my very best. Typical mundane daily dealings bore me to the point where sometimes I ignore them for as long as possible, although I have taught myself to overcome that. I'd rather be doing a geometry problem than balance my checkbook. I can be hard on myself or proud, and fluctuate between bouts of haughtiness and lack of self esteem. Ultimately, I know my strengths and try to fix the weaknesses I do not care to have.

Celtic Tree of Life | Celtic Crosses | The Legend of King Arthur

This week, there are a few more additions to the Celtic Symbol Dictionary and Celtic Mythology website. Symbols are something I think we all take for granted a bit and Celtic Mythology is something I personally love and believe illustrates the heart of the Celtic spirit!

At first thought, if you did not know what the Celtic Tree of Life symbol represented you might think it simp… Continue

Stonehenge, Celtic Clothing, and Social System

Recently I have been adding some article to the Celtic Encyclopedia and will be continuing to do so. For those of you who have not visited the website yet, it is a place where you can learn about all kinds of Celtic topics. It is one of several websites managed by the United Celtic Nations. There is a ton of information to add about the Celts and anyone can become involved by… Continue

When people become members of CFN, and in there profile they don’t mention any in interest, or involvement in any thing Celtic. Such as Celtic Art, Celtic History, Celtic Music, Celtic Folklore, Celtic Nations. Should they be asked a question regarding why they have joined CFN.

My dear friend Ceilidh,
I'm thinking I didn't thank you properly for putting those very kind words in my fan club write-up. Thank you.
I have had a bit of down time, as I call it, (depression) since coming back from our trip to Scotland.
We had a lovely time, travelling through the Highlands in our camper-van.
Then we stopped for a few days to see our son and family, had a great time with our grandsons.
This down time thing seems to happen, when I've been away enjoying myself.
When getting back to things at home I tend to feel guilty, thinking I didn't deserve to enjoy a holiday, it always happens.
With friends like you and Shane, and others on this site, I think it has helped this time, I have not gone so deep this time, and I feel I'm coming out of it now.

Hope all is well with you, and you are looking after yourself.

May you have love to share
Health to spare
And friends that care

Speak again soon
Brian

Thanks for your comment -I signed up for this site then lost track of it and haven't been here for over a month. By alternatives, I mean just about everything, as I am skeptical of the mainstream explanations in all areas -science, politics, health, etc... I will check out that affiliate program on Celtic tattoos-sounds like just what I'm looking for!

:) Ok... that dress is WOW! Too pretty...

I probably will make it a small business before long, possibly adding it to my cage building business. :) I love sewing and making medieval things especially.
