Thanks - been in a slump lately. The birds are just stolen from one of the pattern books I have, but the running spirals are based on a design on Irish sword scabbard from around the 2nd century B.C., and it will meet up with some different birds ...

Profile Information

About Me:
I own a small business researching and preserving games of the past, many of which I decorate with Celtic motifs. http://historicgames.com

I've always been fascinated with Celtic knotwork designs and recently realized part of the enjoyment I find in it is the challenge of the solving the puzzle of how to fill a shape or space with an unending line or "knot"

I've also been interested in Scottish history through a local historical reenactment group and write a monthly on line Celtic History Newsletter

As you can see from my profile pic I also play some flute and penny whistle, I'm also interested in the history of wood turning and present a demonstration of a man-power wood lathe at various historic-themed events.

See also my Cafepress shop for my work on T-shirts and other products.
Hobbies/Interests:
history, Celtic art, Celtic music, wood turning, games of the past.
My Profession:
Self employed craftsman

Design for a circular cribbage board

A work in progress. It will be a three-track Cribbage board with color-coded bands spiraling in to help identify each player's track of holes so they don't get lost in the art.

"Coffin" Inspiration?

At a reenactors' trade fair this weekend I bought an empty, hand made, wooden, coffin-shaped, banjo case. It was fairly cheap and fairly well made, so I grabbed it in the hope that my teardrop-shaped backpacker guitar (which only came with a fabric case) would fit in it. It was also big enough that I thought I would modify the inside so it could also carry my flute and whistles. Unfortunately, when I got home I discovered that it is about an inch too narrow at the "foot" of the "coffin" so the t… Continue

Early Kilt Satires

Anyone who has worn a kilt for a while probably knows the standard replies to the question of what is worn underneath (A few standard comebacks http://tinyurl.com/dm3f6n ). Obviously such naughty speculation is nothing new. So I thought I would share some of the early satires on kilts and kilt wearing I have found. Several of them are from the French who seemed to develop a fascination with kilted soldiers in France following the defeat of Napoleon. A few… Continue

Games in Scotland

Some miscellaneous notes and stories mainly about board and table games played in Scotland.

In the 15th century the 2nd Lord of Glamis (known as Earl Beardie) was an avid card player. Earl Beardie and the Earl of Crawford were playing cards late on a Saturday night. According to legend, a servant came to remind Earl Beardie that it was nearing midnight. The servant urged them to stop playing saying it was sacrilege to play cards on the Sabbath. Lord Glamis shouted that they would play until Doo… Continue

Hi Groomporter,
Got some information I think would help take you to the next level with the sales of your works. It will take a bit of work, but it's so easy to do. I'm very impressed with it myself. No installing stuff on your site. Simply put in html code for each product and poof. Works great.

Recently I got signed up and created an affiliate program for my Celtic Tattoo Art. What it is, is a program that allows others to promote my art and earn a percentage. I give a generous 40% comission, but you can give however much you like. (I'll definately sign up and post you across hundreds of sites.)

Anyway, check out the link (and sign up) so you can see what it's about and how easy it is to use. Don't forget you have a friend here that will help you if you need it k. I sincerely believe this will help take you to the next level.

Join our affiliate program and start earning 40% on each sale you refer today!

If you have any questions or whatever feel free to contact me.

Peace be the journey,
Shane Clark

Oh, they pay me if you sign up for the business account (has to be on sign up) so if you have any questions about it contact me first so I can send you $10.00 of the $30.00 that it costs to sign up back to you. Otherwise I won't be able to send it back to you.
